Provided by AGPTürkiye’s General Directorate of Coastal Safety says a 185-meter dry cargo ship named Zaltron, traveling from Egypt to Russia, suffers an engine malfunction while sailing off the Kurucesme area.
In response, authorities dispatch multiple tugboats to the scene, while vessel movement through the Bosphorus is suspended in both directions as a safety precaution.
Kurtarma-3, Kurtarma-5, and Kurtarma-9 are deployed to assist in securing the ship and managing the situation.
Officials later confirm that the vessel is safely anchored at the Ahirkapi Anchorage Area under the coordination of the Istanbul Vessel Traffic Services Center, with support from a pilot captain and tug operations, as stated by reports.
After the incident is brought under control, maritime traffic in the strait is fully reopened, according to authorities.
